VIPKID

VIPKid is an international education technology company that connects children with experienced teachers for real-time online English immersion lessons.

After government regulations prohibited native speaking English teachers from teaching Chinese children in 2021, VIPKid worked to re-brand and re-focus its business model.

VIPKid now operates VIPTeacher, which is a powerful network that connects teachers to teaching and learning opportunities.

VIPKid Application Process

Stage 1: Create a teacher account (5 mins)

Sign up for a teacher account (button above) and fill in your basic information. Fill in your basic information, teaching experience, educational background, and work experience.

Stage 2: Record a live demo (mock class) (25 mins, including 10 minute lesson)

If you pass the application screening in Stage 1, you will be contacted within three business days to do a live demo.

There are two options for your mock class. You can view the materials here (Level 2) and here (Level 4).

Here are some tips:

1. Ensure a stable internet connection and use a headset or earbuds with a built-in microphone.

2. Choose a teaching space with an educational background, such as a whiteboard, world map, or bookshelf. While not mandatory for the Live Demo, this can be beneficial for future sessions.

3. Use good lighting and position yourself to face a window rather than having it behind you.

4. Speak slowly and clearly, using simple language and avoiding complicated words or incidental language.

5. Use Total Physical Response (TPR) and plenty of body language when introducing new vocabulary.

6. Highlight target sentences or words with an underline to help students keep track.

7. Follow the “I do, we do, you do” method for teaching new content. Model the task first, practice with the student, and then have them complete it independently.

8. Incorporate appropriate props to support your lesson objectives.

9. Implement level-appropriate reward systems to motivate your students.

10. Encourage students to speak 50% of the time. Have them repeat target vocabulary and sentences. If they struggle, use the "I do, we do, you do" method to guide them.

Stage 3: Review orientation materials (time varies)

After you pass Stage 2, VIPKid gives you access to a wealth of information and support to help you prepare for the final stage, the mock class.

Stage 4: Contract Signing

If you pass all the previous stages, you will be offered a contract.
