Online Teaching Central is…

…a resource and information website run by a team of active online teachers with over 20 years combined experience in the industry. Our team has taught both online and in the classroom in North America and abroad.

Our goal is to not only inform prospective teachers of quality employment opportunities; we also seek to provide valuable information and resources for current teachers.

Our “Business” Model

While we consider ourselves more of a resource than a business, it does take considerable time, effort, and money to maintain this website, and for that reason we have monetized our website in some ways.

We like to be upfront about that monetization so that you don’t feel like you are being tricked in any way.

Here’s how we earn revenue from this website so that we can continue to provide you with up-to-date information from the online teaching industry for free:

Referral Links:

If you see a teaching opportunity on our site; click through to the parent company; apply; and are hired, we may be paid a commission by the company you are hired with. This costs you nothing and will not impact any of your future revenues.

We thoroughly research the companies we feature on this site. We want to provide you with an honest and accurate representation of them on our site.  We strive to feature only reliable employment options for our visitors.

For this reason, we hope you’ll use our site to apply for your online teaching teaching position.  However, you are totally free to leave our site without clicking the application link there, navigate to the company’s website yourself, and apply there directly.

We do not represent or claim to speak on behalf of any of the companies you see on our site.

Due to privacy reasons, if you apply to any of the companies we feature, we are not privy to the status of your application or the personal information you put in the application. We cannot comment on why applications were rejected because the companies do not share that information with us.  We aim to give you all the information about the companies before applying and provide you with trips, tricks, and resources to give you the best chance at being hired.

Ad Revenue:

Another way we are able to cover the costs of running this website is through ad revenue.  When you are on our site, you may notice advertisements.  We do not choose what advertisements are served to you.  This is chosen by ad provider and based on a complex algorithm that roughly translates to your browsing and searching habits on the internet.

Course Sales:

Most companies that provide online classes to students require their teachers to have some kind of teaching certificate.  We have researched the options available and have chosen courses that fulfill employment requirements and provide quality education, while still being affordable.

We have teamed up with an online school called International Open Academy to offer online courses to our visitors at a discount.  We are a re-seller of these courses.  We did not create the course ourselves and we do not process the payments for these courses.  We are unable to access your student account should you enrol in these certificate programs.   All inquires must be directed to International Open Academy.

Affiliate Links:

We may also feature a number of teaching resources on our site that are available on Amazon or through other providers.  If you click through our site and purchase a product on a third-party site, we may earn a small commission.  Again, this does not come at any extra charge to you.

Digital Product Sales:

We also sell original digital products that we feel may be of use to online teachers. We share the revenue of these products with our creators and artists.
